Moosewood Responds to Consumer Demand for International Cuisine by Introducing Three NEW Organic & Vegetarian Entrees!

Brockton, MASS - February 25, 2004 - More and more American families are turning to prepared foods because they simply do not have the time or desire to cook. And yet, growing preferences for sophisticated flavors and dishes, including those with international and ethnic flair, have made it difficult for many consumers to find meals that satisfy their palates, ingredient quality demands, nutritional concerns and busy schedules.

Moosewood, in partnership with Fairfield Farm Kitchens, began addressing this consumer need in the Spring of 2003 and continues to respond to this strong demand and accelerating national trend by expanding the Company's line of popular prepared meals based on meticulously replicated recipes from the famous Moosewood Restaurant and award-winning cookbook series. Fueled in part by the overwhelming early success of refrigerated Moosewood Soups that have captured an impressive 51% market share in the natural products marketplace (according to SPINS, 4 weeks ending 12/27/03), Fairfield Farm Kitchens is now adding three new tantalizing ethnic-oriented entrees to its line of Moosewood frozen organic and vegetarian entrees: Moroccan Stew, Paste e Fagioli and Southwest Cornbread & Red Beans. Made with carefully sourced organic seasonings and ingredients, Moosewood's chefs joined forces with Fairfield Farm Kitchens to ensure that the final products are true to the original recipes in every way. All three entrees will be officially introduced by Moosewood/Fairfield Farm Kitchens at the upcoming Natural Products Expo (Booth #3404) in Anaheim, CA from March 5-7, 2004.

Each of these new entrees has its own unique ethnic-inspired flair:

Moroccan Stew: An aromatic & exotic stew of fresh sweet potatoes, cabbage & peppers simmered with tomatoes, raisins & chickpeas served with golden couscous. Moroccan Stew has been featured on Moosewood Restaurant's menu every couple of weeks since the 1970s. In addition to its great taste, Moroccan Stew is a Low Calorie, Low Fat, No Saturated Fat and No Cholesterol meal.

Southwest Cornbread & Red Beans: Savory red beans & vegetables simmered with chipotle, garlic, cumin & lime ladled over sweet yellow cornbread & long grain rice. In addition to its great taste, Southwest Cornbread & Red Beans is a Low Fat, Low Saturated Fat and Low Cholesterol meal.

Pasta e Fagioli: Tuscan-style fennel & basil tomato sauce tossed with white beans & spinach served over penne pasta. The rustic and robust personality in this sauce is finished with splashes of lemon & wine. In addition to its great taste, Pasta e Fagioli is a Low Calorie, Low Fat, Low in Saturated Fat, No Cholesterol and Low Sodium meal. In 2002, Fairfield Farm Kitchens of Brockton, Massachusetts signed a long-term partnership with Moosewood. Combining Moosewood's culinary expertise and Fairfield Farm Kitchens' premium quality food processing capabilities, each soup or entree is strictly prepared in small batches using cooking techniques prescribed by the original and authentic Moosewood recipe and only the freshest organic ingredients. Cabbage, onions and celery are hand-peeled and cut. Sweet potatoes, green bell peppers, chickpeas, chipotle, fragrant seasonings and herbs add fresh, complex flavors to exotic favorites.

Moosewood offers six refrigerated organic and vegetarian soups: Creamy Broccoli & Cheese, Texas Two Bean Chili, Creamy Potato & Corn Chowder, Hearty Mushroom Barley, Mediterranean Tomato & Rice and Tuscan White Bean & Vegetable. The soups are predominantly priced between $4.49 - $4.99, and packaged in dual-serving 18 oz. containers (a meal for one person or side dish for two people). With the introduction of three new Moosewood entrees, consumers can now choose from seven delicious, heat-and-serve, frozen entree varieties including: Moroccan Stew, Paste e Fagioli, Southwest Cornbread & Red Beans, Broccoli & Pasta Parmesan, Farfalle & Spinach Pesto Sauce, Spicy Penne Puttanesca and Macaroni & Three Cheeses. These 10 oz. entrees are priced between $3.49 - $3.99, except for Macaroni & Three Cheeses which retails between $2.49 - $2.99 in retail outlets nationwide.
